It’s time for a girls weekend in Las Vegas! There are few places in the U.S. with more options for fun things to do than Las Vegas. Gambling is the obvious choice here, but even if you aren’t big into gambling, there are a ton of things that you and your friends can do. Here are 5 of our favorite things to do when my suitcase sister, Andie, and I head out to Vegas:

Renee and Andie walking in front of Paris on the Vegas strip.
- Go shopping

Andie and I love to shop! And there are endless possibilities of places to shop in Vegas. When we just want to peruse some shops and get some lunch while we are at it, we like to head to the Venetian. It’s fun to go in and out of the fun shops on the Grand Canal. Over the years I have purchased designer purses, jewelry, and even artwork at the shops on the Grand Canal. We often have lunch at the little Mexican eatery, La Canonita, on the Grand Canal as well. It feels like eating outside while staying out of the hot Vegas sun and enjoying the cool air conditioning all at the same time.
It’s also well worth the trip to go to the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets.

I’ve found many great bargains there at some higher-end stores. It is pretty easy to get there too. Just a short cab or Uber ride from anywhere on the strip. Vegas has so much to offer in regards to shopping that you and your friends should never leave empty-handed.
2. Have a great breakfast

A good day on a girl’s getaway includes breakfast in my opinion and Vegas has plenty of fabulous spots. It is easy to find a great breakfast buffet in most any hotel you stay on the strip. If you plan to go that route, our top breakfast buffet recommendation is at the Wynn and is worth the cab ride over from your hotel. (During Covid, it is important to check on the current status of any buffets in Vegas as the situation remains in flux)
For a great brunch on the patio with the added benefit of being right across from the gorgeous Bellagio fountains (free show while you eat), we suggest Hexx. This is attached to the Paris resort. Because I gravitate towards sweet dishes in the morning, I recommend the Brioche French Toast.

Pineapple Mimosa at Mon Ami Gabi
And if you and your girlfriends like mimosas in the morning, Hexx offers a special Bottomless mimosa where you can indulge in all-you-can-drink mimosas for 2 hours from the time you place your order. (dangerous right!!) They offer pineapple, cranberry, or the typical orange juices. Andie and I also really enjoyed breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi, a French bistro which was lovely to sit in their enclosed patio area.

Crepes at Mon Ami Gabi
This little eatery is also in the Paris resort which makes it or any hotel nearby a great location to stay on the strip. I loved the crepes with fruit at Mon Ami Gabi and of course, you can’t go wrong with a mimosa here as well.
3. Relax at the Spa

Andie at the Spa at the Cosmopolitan.
I don’t often have time to treat myself to a visit to a spa on a regular basis but when you are on a girls weekend in Las Vegas, it definitely seems like a “Must”!! Andie and I recently had a fun getaway at the Cosmopolitan and spent some time in the Sahra Spa. This spa was inspired by the desert that nestles Las Vegas. The beauty of which can be seen in the walls of the hallway shown in our photographs.
The overall feel of the spa evokes a sense of deep relaxation. So much so in fact that you may need a quick nap after your treatment. 😉 But afterward, you should feel refreshed and ready to have more fun with the girls!
4. Have some cocktails

You don’t have to look far to find alcohol in Vegas. Narrowing the options down is the hard part. Here are our favorite options: Go back to one of our favorite resorts, The Venetian. Every trip to Vegas, I always get a margarita at the Canonita. Situated on the “Grand Canal”, it’s just so enjoyable to spend time watching the gondolas meander by while sipping on margaritas.
We also suggest your hotel lounge. The Cosmopolitan, for example, has a gorgeous lounge. It’s so fun to sit on the plush chairs, enjoying a glass of wine while people-watching in the middle of the casino floor. Finally, if you can score a room with a minibar, it can be really relaxing to sit in your room enjoying a drink with your friend.

It offers a nice break from the endless noise of the casino. And if you are on a girl’s getaway with a friend that lives across the country, it provides a nice chance to catch up without competing with the sounds of Vegas.
5. Enjoy a show

Since we are not big gamblers, one of the main reasons we would choose Vegas as a great destination to hang out with girlfriends is the expansive options of shows available. Some shows are very expensive but others are actually free.
The Cirque du Soleil shows are incredible and there are so many options. “O” at Bellagio focuses on water. “Ka” at the MGM centers on acrobatics on an ever-moving wall (hard to describe without seeing it.). “Love” at the Mirage features the music of the Beatles, and “Mystere” at Treasure Island is the longest-running Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas (almost 30 years) and probably the most iconic. (Check schedules and times as not all are running currently due to Covid.)

There are magic shows, ventriloquist shows, musicals, comedy acts, concerts, and of course, shows of the ‘Chippendale’ variety that can naturally be a lot of fun during a girls weekend in Las Vegas!
You don’t have to break the bank to see some great shows in Vegas. There are a ton of free shows on the strip. The Bellagio fountains are mesmerizing and you can enjoy them while dining from a number of eateries. There are several in the Bellagio itself or across the street like at Hexx or Mon Ami Gabi as previously discussed.
You shouldn’t miss the volcano eruption at the Mirage and the Pirate show at Treasure Island is always a blast. Even just walking down the strip and seeing all the street performers is a great way to get some free laughs as well.

Vegas has no shortage of entertainment possibilities so you and your friends are sure to have a blast whether you plan on splurging for a marquee show or taking in all the freebies around town.
As married, working women with kids, sometimes we need a little girls weekend in Las Vegas to recharge, have some fun and enjoy the company of friends for a weekend. My suitcase sister Andie and I live several states away so we often meet for fun trips in a variety of cities around the country. Vegas is one of the best because of the endless choices for good shopping, good eats, good shows, and good times.
Happy Travels!
